FLORIDA BILL AIMS TO PROTECT HOMEOWNERS FROM CORPORATE TAKEOVERS

A new bill introduced in Florida could help protect homeownership by preventing large corporations from buying up entire neighborhoods. House Bill 401, known as the Strengthening Homeownership in Florida Act, was filed by Rep. Berny Jacques and aims to give local governments the ability to reserve land exclusively for single-family homeowners—limiting corporate purchases that turn communities into rental-only areas. Jacques emphasized that homeownership is about freedom, stability, and the right to build a future in Florida. If passed, this bill could make it easier for families to buy homes instead of competing with large investment firms. Want to learn more about how this could impact the housing market?
