CHANGES TO HOA LAWS IN FLORIDA: KEY POINTS FOR HOMEOWNERS

A new law in Florida imposes stricter regulations on homeowners associations (HOAs), bringing significant changes that aim to protect homeowners from excessive fines and arbitrary rules. The new regulations include various restrictions designed to ensure fairer treatment and more balanced operations within HOAs. Key changes include:

– Banning HOAs from prohibiting homeowners or guests from parking personal, business, or first responder vehicles that are not commercial vehicles in areas allowed by state, county, and municipal regulations.
– Preventing HOAs from fining residents for leaving garbage cans at the curb within 24 hours of scheduled trash collection.
– Restricting HOAs from fining residents for leaving up holiday lights or decorations past the HOA’s rules without prior notice, giving homeowners one week to take them down.

These changes are intended to create a more reasonable and less punitive environment for homeowners, ensuring that HOA regulations do not overstep and infringe upon residents’ rights. Both homeowners and HOAs need to understand and comply with these new regulations to foster a fair and harmonious community. For more detailed information, visit here.
