Big things are coming to Lakewood Ranch, and this latest announcement is set to make an already thriving community even more exciting.

The Manatee County Commission has approved the next phase of development at Premier Sports Campus—an $80 million, 190,000-square-foot ice sports complex that will feature four ice rinks, including a 2,500-seat arena designed to host regional and national sporting events.

The development will be much more than an ice rink. Plans also include restaurants, retail space, and sports medicine services, creating a year-round destination for athletes, families, and visitors.

Once completed, the complex is expected to host:

• Ice hockey tournaments
• Figure skating competitions
• Cheerleading and dance events
• Community programs
• Regional and national sporting events

The project is expected to open around 2028 and further strengthen Lakewood Ranch's reputation as one of Florida's premier sports and recreation destinations.

Sports tourism already contributes approximately $450 million annually to Manatee County's economy—representing roughly 15% of the county's visitor economy. This new facility is expected to attract even more visitors, create new jobs, support local businesses, and continue driving demand throughout the Lakewood Ranch area.
