Nearly 7,500 New Home Permits Issued Across Florida in June

New construction continues to play a major role in Florida’s housing market. In June, nearly 7,500 new residential construction permits were issued across the state, representing more than $2.68 billion in planned construction.

Tampa led the state with approximately 2,300 permits, while Southwest Florida followed with 1,895. Combined, the two regions accounted for 56% of the residential permitting activity included in the report. The average permitted construction value was approximately $357,900 per home.

For Southwest Florida, the numbers highlight the amount of new housing continuing to enter the pipeline. As communities across the region grow, builders are adding inventory and giving buyers more opportunities to consider new construction alongside existing homes.

New construction can be especially appealing to buyers looking for modern floor plans, updated building standards, energy efficient features, and the ability to personalize a home. However, with more inventory coming to market, buyers should still compare communities, builder incentives, fees, location, and potential resale value before making a decision.

For Sarasota and Manatee County buyers, continued construction is another housing trend worth watching. More new homes can create additional choices and competition in the market, particularly as builders work to attract buyers in growing communities throughout the region.
